Sources from Abrahajirha, Armachiho, North Gonder, have said that a large scale search has been underway in the town for individuals suspected of helping “alien rebels” penetrate into the town.
The residents of the town are in total fear; government securities are searching hotels and main roads of the town. Residents are also being asked to produce Identity Cards in all places.
The residents also said that so far no “alien” has been apprehended.
Some sources are saying that the search could be a reaction to the reports that two famous businesspeople of the town have joined Arebegnoch Ginbot 7 Movement three days ago.
Mass arrest of youth who have travelled to the town looking for work or young residents of the town has been underway since last month on suspicion that they might be travelling to neighbouring Eritrea to join the rebel Movement there, Arebegnoch Ginbot 7.
Currently, there are reports of increased tension in border towns of Northern Ethiopia and North Armachiho, Gonder; the ruling Front in Ethiopia has deployed a large number of its Defense forces to the areas since last month.
Top government officials had recently travelled to speak to the people in the area.
