Security forces shot and killed two people who were among hundreds of people protesting against the demolition of their houses. A little girl has also lost her life in the stampede.
A pregnant woman was taken to the hospital after she was brutally beaten by security forces.
About 2500 houses are slated for demolition by the authorities who said the houses were built illegally. Residents however say they had permission from city authorities for the construction of the houses. Three-hundred house have so far been demolished, according to sources.
Residents also say they were given neither land nor compensation to rebuild their lives.
