The ruling Front, EPRDF’s council meeting, unusually held for a third time in one month confirmed that the secrets of the leadership have “fallen in dangerous hands’’ and the consequences could be very bad unless immediate measures are taken.
The 3rd emergency meeting stated that the Amhara National Democratic Movement (ANDM) and Southern Ethiopian Peoples’ Democratic Movement (SPDM), both member parties of the EPRDF, are at their weakest point in time and notified the parties to immediately come out of this situation.
In this meeting held in closed doors, the two parties have been given advise to eliminate the strong “public hate’’ that is widely visible against them in their respective regions and prepare to win the general election next year.
The Council said “although there have been changes in the Country’s political economy”, the people in Amhara and Southern Ethiopian regions have expressed their suffering, problems and their trials which has eventually “confounded the Front.”
During the evaluation held on “Changing the political economy of rent seeking with developmental political economy”, the Front said the Beni Shangul, Harari, Somali, Gambella and Afar regions have not been able to break away from being supported.
In the past 13 years, although there have been gradual progresses in the developmental political economy, there remains a lot.
The Council has also started to look into the roles of the top leadership of the EPRDF and confirmed that the secrets of the top leadership have been seeped out to “dangerous groups” and unless immediate measures are taken the damages could be stern.
Each region has also been given directive to conduct election assessments and send them back.
