After an Ethiopian government diplomat in the U.S., Solomon Tadesse Gebreselassie, who shot at Ethiopian protesters outside the Ethiopian Embassy in Washington DC last week, had been expelled from the U.S. within 48 hours, pro Ethiopian government forces in the U.S. took to the U.S. State Department yesterday denouncing the expulsion of the Diplomat from the U.S. Another group which called itself “human rights defenders” also held a counter protest around the same place.
The pro government protestors protested saying the U.S. has not given enough protection for the Embassy while the human rights campaigners applauded U.S.’s action.
After the U.S. has expelled Solomon, who has a diplomatic immunity, from America, the Ethiopian government accepted the decision without taking the same action in response.
Many are commenting on social media saying that the silence of the Ethiopian government is a “diplomatic defeat”.
